Jim Montgomery
by Larry Mahoney

Jim Montgomery was in an airport on Thursday. He wasn’t with his Dubuque Fighting Saints.

The former University of Maine All-American and captain of the 1992-93 NCAA championship team, who is the coach and general manager of the United States Hockey League team, was headed for a job interview.

And it wasn’t with his alma mater.

Montgomery wouldn’t divulge his destination, but Mike Chambers of the Denver Post confirmed it was at the University of Denver [read entire article].

I must say, I am not too impressed with Montgomery from that article. "Shocked and stunned" that Maine hadn't contacted him yet, and a bit cocky about returning Maine to greatness. Although you need to give a guy a break and mistakes are understandable, his driving under the influence thing doesn't exactly help him as a candidate either. Let's hire Seth already!

Why would want to hire Seth and have a 400 win percentage let's go with LaLonde and win

OR go with Brown who is a proven winner and character guy.

LaLonde is a great guy, but he is a disciple of George. I feel like the winds of change are upon us. I love Lalonde and George, but lets give the best in the business a shot.

Why do we want BC's sloppy seconds? No head coach experience = HUGE risk. We want a proven winner.

have you read his bio - Sloppy seconds. On paper, he blows away everyone.

Do your homework before you spout off

He is an assistant coach, and has been for the last nine years. There is a reason for that. Appert was an assistant for nine years and won two national titles and look how that has turned out for him. Mediocrity. DU deserves better.

Just read Brown's Bio ...not impressed. Do you mean Jerry York's bio? That's impressive! Is he a candidate?

8:22, I see what you did there. Sounds more like sloppy seventieths

Congrats to Jim for getting the offer

Peg made a colossal mistake in her treatment of, and in firing Gwozdecky. She made several mistakes with regards to basketball and securing a conference. She wants to leave a legacy of some sort - she is firing grenades, or canons, or nuclear bombs on her mission, and doesn't seem to care about the collateral damage along the way. When will she be held accountable for her actions? Do the powers that be acknowledge her mistakes? Do they care?

Don't know if he can coach but he sure can PARTY! Just don't let him drive home afterward.

Really some of these comments are really unfortunate. I'm sure all of you whom Re taking your pot shots at Montgomery have never done anything wrong in your life.

I admit the tat of toga man on my butt cheek was a mistake. But in my defense I was really, really drunk when I got it. I wasn't stupid enough to drive drunk but it was still a mistake.
