DU Moving To Big East Conference In Lax

The University of Denver men’s lacrosse team will move to the BIG EAST Conference for immediate competition for the 2014 season, it was announced today. Denver will join members Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John’s and Villanova, as well as Rutgers, who will remain with the league for one season.

This move is good. With Loyola going to the Patriot League, and Micihigan and OSU moving toward the Big 10, DU could not stay in a weak ECAC.

Move is great for all. STABILITY. No scrambling if and when others leave ECAC.
1. Our joining the Big East means they keep their AQ
2. We will play 2 guaranteed league games every year in lax hot beds. Recruiting edge.
3. Philly, DC, Prov, and or NYC at least once every 2 years guaranteed.
4. Big east has a lax TV contract with NBC Sports.
5. St. Johns game most likely at Meadowlands on national tv.
6. maybe FF, AF, and or Hopkins join also.

I hope this rumor becomes reality. We can stay in this league until there is a 6 team league Denver to the west coast.

Fantastic move by Peg to get DU out of a crumbling ECAC.

Cool to see DU with great privates like Georgetown, Villanova, St. John's. Providence and Marquette.

Too bad we can't move our other teams to the Big East, too!

Epic collapse by the red wings, I haven't witnessed a collapse like that since DU's collapse last week in lax.

I continue to be flattered and impressed that a fan of another school would take the time to watch a DU lacrosse game. Surprised that his mom has ESPN in her cable package, but thanks for your interest!

Yeah, this seems like an awesome and timely move for DU. It was nice playing Michigan and Ohio State, but it is only a matter of time before they bolt the ECAC. I doubt the women's team will join Big East, as they are already in a good situation in the MPSF.

Just like we were all excited for the WAC. This is the kiss of death for Lax Big East.

Its official.

Johns Hopkins has formed a Task Force to study which conference to join.

Big Ten & ACC would appear at first glance to be the favorites, but the Big East would seem to be a better fit with smaller schools and an easier road to get NCAA bids.

DG: I love being in the Big East. Praying RU gets DU in Piscataway next year. We will stay in a solid Big East until there is a league from Denver to the Pacific. Stability!!
I'd love HOP being in the BE, but I think they go Big 10.

Peg is a great AD. Tierney hire off the charts. I must say on Saturday, she had a great poker face.

Love this move.

No more WTF schools like Bellarmine, Fairfield and Hobart in league play.

Hello, Georgetown, Villanova, Providence, Marquette and St Johns.

Me likey major D-I schools.

The Big East contacted Tierney a month or so ago and set the wheels in motion for the move.

Inside Lacrosse confirmed that Johns Hopkins will announce Monday its intentions to join the Big Ten as an affiliate member in men's and women's lacrosse. The announcement keys the formation of Big Ten men's and women's lacrosse as league-sponsored sports.
