Hilarious. Aside from the university's ill-considered stance on this issue, this could be considered potentially good publicity for the school. Just in terms of getting people thinking about the University of Denver. Strange, isn't it, how these things work?

A former DU student body president told me today that DU tried to push the Mascot Task Force on them several years ago.

This is further evidence that it was the administration that has been pushing the move to demonize Boone.

Meanwhile the administration continued to peddle that is was the will of the students to find a new mascot.

The lies continue...

It is my understanding that Will Guy and the student body president, who's name escapes, me are now seeking political asylum in Canada.

Canada would never take them.

Our esteemed neighbors to the north prefer their immigrants be able to offer a positive contribution to society.

This debacle has developed enough to now justify a musical comedy on Broadway. Rodgers and Hammerstien could knock it out in a month ,except they might be dead by now. Anyway, whoever are their successors should be given the opportunity.

Good idea. However, I think Gilbert and Sullivan would be better suited to capturing the pompous idiocy. "Stick close to your desk, and never go to sea, and you could be the ruler of the Queen's navee."

A comment from 6 months ago on Brendan's blog from the great Swami who used to post here so often:

"DU's University Marketing and Communications would be crazy to take on this mascot project. That department is looking good after Presidential Debate and the creating the new University logo last fall.

Pissing off thousands of DU alumni and sports fans going into the University's 150th anniversary year would be a terrible strategic, financial and PR move"

Seems they took it one step further by trying to place all the blame on the students. THAT'S what offends me.
