Players' Pleas Please Pioneers

The Pioneers had a decision to make last year when head soccer coach Bobby Muuss elected to take the head coaching position at his Alma Mater, Wake Forest. Coming off an NCAA playoff appearance, Denver could conduct a national search for a new soccer coach and draw wide attention based on track record, facilities, and reputation. The players had their opinion, too. They wanted untested Jamie Franks, a young assistant coach and recruiter with Wake Forest roots. The players emphatically and unanimously endorsed Franks to the Athletic Department and the decision was eventually made to elevate Franks to HC. Today, he stands as the youngest D-1 soccer coach in the country.

In his first year as HC, with a record of 3-0-1, the soccer team has moved up to 20th in  national polls with an aggressive counter attack, stout defense, and a physical brand of soccer.  They have two more games on the road before returning home September 20th against Utah Valley.
