Who will be DU's Hockey MVP in 2015-2016?


With a promising hockey season in front of us, who  will be DU's most valuable player this upcoming season? LGDU takes a look at several key players for the 2015-2016 Pioneers:


Grant Arnold - Senior Captain - Forward
Experienced & Hard Working
Named team captain on June 5... Skated over 100 career NCAA games, Finished junior season with 2G-7A-9P-26PIM in 39 games played... Named co-winner (with Daniel Doremus) of 2015 Dr. Ralph Verploeg Award as Most Inspirational Player).

Tanner Jaillet - Sophomore Goaltender
No team wins it all without superior goaltending
Appeared in 27 games for Denver during rookie campaign, winning a team-high 15 games (5th, NCHC)… Finished 3rd in the NCHC in W% (.652), T-5th in SV% (.917) and 7th in GAA (2.35),  Also named to All-NCHC Second Team… Earned NCHC Rookie of the Week honors five times and Offensive Player of the Week honors once…Also won the Barry Sharp Award as Freshman of the Year.

Trevor Moore - Junior Forward
No team wins without goals - Moore fills up the net
Named NCHC Forward of the Year after winning the in-conference scoring title with 13G-17A-30P (23GP)... Also named to All-NCHC Team and captured Second Team All-American (West) honors... Led Pios/NCHC with 22 total goals... Finished sophomore campaign with 22G-22-44P in 39GP... Shared Dallas Guame Award as Denver’s Offensive Player of the Year with Danton Heinen.

Nolan Zajac - Senior Defenseman
Experienced defender steadies the back line and triggers Monty's Offense
Finished second on DU and third in the NCHC in scoring by a defensemen with 5G-21A-26P while skating in all 40 games for the Pios as a junior… Blocked 55 shots, ranking second on Denver… Opened the season on a five-game point streak (2G-3A-5P)… 

This list does not include other DU veterans such as Quintin Shore or Will Butcher. Or, is there a surprise newcomer, like Troy Terry, that is critical to DU's success this year?

Danton Heinen.

The kid had a huge year last year, and has put on some muscle for this year. Heinen and Trevor Moore are the best 1-2 punch in the NCHC in terms of offense. Nobody else has that.
