NCHC Meets Lofty Expectations

The National Collegiate Hockey Conference continues to deliver on the preseason expectations as the best conference, top to bottom, in the country. The latest USCHO rankings have four of the top ranked six teams in the country from the NCHC. Undefeated North Dakota (4-0-2) and UNO (6-0) sit in first and second, respectively. Denver sits in fifth ((3-1) and Minnesota - Duluth (2-1-2)  sits in 6th.

Take away bottom dwelling Colorado College (0-6) and  the NCHC is an impressive (24-8-6) overall. Conference play starts this upcoming weekend for a number of conference teams. The top match-up is Miami at St. Cloud State followed by Omaha at Western Michigan. North Dakota travels to Colorado College.

The top non-conference games will be DU at BC on Friday and DU vs. BC on Saturday. Also, Minnesota-Duluth is hosting UMass-Lowell for a two-game set.

Denver has a chance to bolster the leagues reputation further with a strong showing so all eyes will be on Boston Halloween weekend.

This season is sure to be another dogfight for the NCHC regular season, NCHC playoffs, and Frozen Faceoff in Minneapolis. And, don't be surprised to see at least two NCHC teams in Tampa for the Frozen Four.
