Students Given Free Access to Events During Winter Break

On Tuesday morning, Chancellor Rebecca Chopp sent an email to DU students thanking them for a great quarter and announcing that her office has made it possible for all students to attend basketball and hockey games for free during Winter Break.

"As we conclude another successful academic quarter, I want to give thanks for your many contributions to the University. I’m happy to share that we have arranged for members of our community to enjoy free access basketball and hockey games over the break. This offer extends to any students who will be in Denver during this time."
This is a huge opportunity for all students who are in and around Denver for the holiday break. Chancellor Chopp's deal provides all students, faculty, and staff the ability to get up to 8 free tickets to any home basketball (men's and women's) and hockey games during Winter Break.

This is a great move on Chancellor Chopp's part to continue building school spirit even when students are not on campus on a daily basis. The games available are listed below.

For the basketball tickets, there are an unlimited amount available to be claimed by the DU community, but for hockey, only 200 free tickets will be available. To take advantage of this offer just click here and enter the code: FACSTAFF.

So DU, take advantage! Go to these events and cheer on our men and women! These are big games for all three teams and they need fans in seats at these games. The hockey team will need fan support during their four games especially. They host St. Cloud State and Notre Dame over break. Both series are very important in terms of pairwise positioning and conference standings.

If you're not a student or a member of the staff/faculty and you know someone who is, reach out and ask to get in on the deal. We all know the DU community is a family and we do things for our family, especially around the holidays. So get to Magness Arena as often as you can over Winter Break and cheer our Pios on to victory!

Nice move, Chancellor.

Bring back Boone, and we'll commission a statue of you while you're still on the job.

Nice to see someone undertstands the importance of school spirit

I agree that this is a nice gesture. But also remember very few students will even be around. It's winter break until Jan. 4 when classes start again. On-campus dorms closed on Monday. The only students around are those taking interterm classes or I guess international students that don't go back to their home country; and commuters.

That's very limited students around to attend any on-campus events.

Students attend basketball games for free all season long.

Yes - but during the break, the students can bring up to 7 non-student friends with them. They can get up to eight free tickets per game,

That's the reason for the free tickets

The major focus of this campaign/promotion was focused on faculty & staff, not particularly students.
