Read Sat that Ruegs got the GWG, but uscho reads now on Mon that Dingle got that goal and Ruegs had an assist. Confused, and wondering if there was an after-the-fact scoring change.

Anyone know??

Nice catch Sean. The DU article and stats are done right after the game. I went to College Hockey Stats and Dingle was credited with the goal.

It turns out that Tyler's shot deflected off Dingle's body.

"I was trying to crash the net, and Tyler Ruegsegger shot, and the puck hit me and went in," said Dingle, who laughed at his good fortune for the weekend. "On my first goal, I got a faceoff back to Butler, and I held up my guy long enough for Chris Butler to get a shot off. Then I went to the net, and the rebound came right to me

Thanks a lot, appreciate that.

I work at the daily newspaper here in Faribault and was trying to put together a little notebook about some of the former Shattuck guys, and wasn't sure what to make of that situation.

Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks Jim,

I think we have it straightened out on this end. I contacted Erich @ DU and he more or less noted that the article was written before the "official goal" was credited to Dingle and once submitted to CSTV for inclusion to the website, can't be changed.

Its great to see Dingle rewarded for going to the net twice during the game because I've felt that DU hasn't gotten enough rebounds/deflections so far this season. Perhaps they have and haven't gotten the lucky bounces or whatever. Hopefully it will balance out over the course of the season.
