In the most recent issue of University of Denver Magazine (Spring '09) there is an article about an "Effort to identify a new 'Pioneer' symbol." It goes into some detail about Chancellor Coombe's effort to squash Boone, but without any mention of the outcry of alums, supporters or students.DU is asking for comments: pioneer@du.edu

I just wrote my response. I also intend to write a letter to the editor and ask why she failed to mention the tremendous effort to bring Boone back. It would appear that the Chancellor even controls the magazine!

You know, Ritchie was a great chancellor for the school... even got a pretty dominant building named after him. I think we should take the time and do the same for Coombe... say the womens bathroom next to the main entrance of Magness? What do you think?
DG, it sounds like your president at DU needs to be shown the door because it is obvious she is one of the pointy headed handing wringing P.C. do gooders. These people are running our country into the ground.
These people like your Denver University president can be defeated if they hear from the masses how unhappy Alumni/DU are.

I've left them my message. Practically questioning where they have been all year considering the students out poor in the support of Boone all season and pointing out how they work for the students.
I really just want a picture of Coombe IN every urinal in the bathroom. The crimson can fight off CC on the ice and the gold can be given to Coombe face-to-face.
This is just further proof that the Bring Back Boone Campaign is working. The Mascot, the emails, the media coverage is forcing DU to take a hard look at this issue.
Now the DU Magazine is finally informing the 80,000 DU alums around the globe that the mascot issue is "in play."
