When you watch DU play hoops, you can really see the system they play versues the systems that opponents play. DU's 'Princeton' system has been modified to get faster ball movement and more open shots. All of DU's players can shoot, making them harder to defend, too. Rob Lewis provides leadership, inside post play and rebounding. Udofia is serious stud in the making - he blocks shots and keeps DU unpredictable. The Hallam brothers play gritty both ways, Stafford is a quality shooting guard and the two freshmen - Olson and O'Neal are turning into solid contributors. DU has more depth, and if you haven's seen DU play yet, you really should. It's a lot of fun.

Iona is really good this year - they blew out Maryland by more than 20 points.

The lone loss was to #18 Cal on the road. This team has a lot of talent, depth, and potential. It's time that DU fans started supporting what could be the beginning of DU's rise in the college basketball world.

Iona is 6-1 with a bunch of road wins. The coach, Tim Cluess, is from a legendary basketball family from the neighborhood I grew up in. We all went to the same grammar school. He and his three brothers all went to St. John's. The two middle brothers, Greg and Kevin, were both captains at St. John's in the 1970s and unfortunately both died of cancer at young ages. Greg was drafted by the Knicks and Kevin by the old Kansas City team. Kevin played in both the NBA and ABA. Tim is the youngest and played at both St. John's and Hofstra. He has successfully been coaching high school and college players for over 20 years. The oldest brother, Hank, starred at St. John's in the mid 1960s and is a softball Hall of Famer. Here is the link to an article in today's NY Daily News on Iona's start this year. Should be a damn good game.

Check that Iona is 5-1 not 6-1.
