If U.S. National Junior Team captain Jason Zucker has played his last game in a Team USA jersey, he left the ice a winner.
Zucker and Team USA closed the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship with a 2-1 victory over Switzerland that clinched seventh place in the tournament.
Jim Johannson, assistant executive director of hockey operations for USA Hockey, said Zucker helped bring a wealth of skills to Team USA from the time he first took the ice at World Juniors in 2010 through today’s game.
“He does all the little things well,” said Johannson.
Zucker started his World Juniors career with a hard check in his first game and continued to show grit and hustle throughout the tournament. He also continued to improve, according Dean Blais, head coach of the 2010 and 2012 U.S. National Junior teams [read entire article].
