The fifth-ranked University of Denver men's lacrosse team opened its season Sunday with a 10-9 loss to Ohio State in Jacksonville, Fla. The Buckeyes improved to 3-0.

"All the credit needs to go to Ohio State because they did a great job of shutting us down and being smart with the ball," DU coach Bill Tierney said. "This was a great learning experience for us."

DU's home opener is Saturday against Michigan.
