The bars probably can't advertise that they would do this, but if some enterprising students took their laptops into DU neighborhood watering holes and hooked up ESPN3 to the big screen, you'd be able to watch the games on TV.
Just sayin....
Thx DG. LGDU is the nexus of the universe...
I sent emails to Altitude and Root asking them to pick-up the games. Not sure if this was a waste of time. Are they even able to pick up the games from ESPN if they wanted to? Or, does ESPN have some sick monopoly where they wont sell TV rights for games that they don't even televise?
I sent an email to DU asking if the game will be picked up locally. DU Athletics said there is no word thus far.
Altitude, Comcast or Root Sports could take the game if they can come to an agreement with ESPN.
Its happened before so keep your fingers crossed.
Peyton Manning is coming to the Broncos. Tim Tebow era is over...
One big issue with this whole broadcast thing is that ESPN3 web broadcasts are only available to subscribers whose broadband providers have a distribution agreement with ESPN.
The two big broadband providers in Denver, CenturyLink (formerly Qwest) and Comcast, do not have such an agreement with ESPN. As such, the majority of people in the Denver area will be stuck with radio only.
Disappointing, but I suppose it's illustrative of college hockey's ultimate place in the broadcast sports pecking order...
We're in business!!! Just got this email from Altitude.....
We just announced that we will be carrying the 2012 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championships this Friday, March 23rd as DU takes on Ferris State on Altitude.
Thank you for your interest in Altitude. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to email us again.
Great to see Altitude step up. They have a national dish preaenxe, too!
Wow. Great job.
Thanks for the heads up.
Altitude info has now been confirmed by DU.

Drunken Hick of the Jury....
I was just on ESPN3.com it lets me watch the one live basketball game that was on right now.
I'm not quite sure what you mean that Comcast doesn't have an agreement with ESPN because I was just on it. It even says in the corner of the screen, "powered by xfinity".
I agree that it sucks that ESPN pushes college hockey to web only and ESPNU which you only have with a high package with any TV provider, but you can always sign up for 2 weeks and then remove it.
Thats what I have done in the past.
I am hopeful we can get by Ferris and get a crack at Michigan. As I recall, we were a number one seed a number of years ago and had to go to Ann Arbor, Michigan and play them on their home ice.
The same goes for #1 seed UND having to go to Minneapolis and play them in their own building. The system seems to be more about money and attendance than fairness...
Playing at the XCel is not the same as playing at Yost.
There will be 5000 Sioux fans at the X this weekend. most of them living the Twin Cities, with a good chunk driving down from Grand Forks. There may be 10,000 Gopher fans, but it's not even the Gophers' home rink.
Yost is the toughest buliding in college hockey with 7,000 Michigan fans right on top of you in an echo chamber 1920s field house. Top seeded DU had maybe 50 in fans in Ann Arbor in 2002.
I just watched Gwoz's press conference. Nine guys will NOT be able to practice on Wednesday and we may be starting two forwards on defense. I am always the optimist but this does not look good. Gwoz was trying to put a good face on it but this is bleak. If by some stroke of luck we can make it thru these two games to the frozen four it will be our miracle on ice.
He advised that the game against Ferris will be a grinder - low scoring and defensive.
Get well guys--and good luck!
