Sitting inside a satellite locker room in the Resch Center, it’s been four years to the day since David Carle’s hockey career was taken out from under him.
Now an assistant coach for
the Green Bay Gamblers, the once-messy red hair is neatly parted and
gelled. The hockey pads and sweater Carle practically grew up in
exchanged for a button-down shirt and slacks [read entire article].

Lots of interesting things in the article.
I kept wondering why Matt signed with Tampa after they shockingly traded him in 2009. The article mentioned the 7th round pick Tampa used to select David.
I remember that. That made the trade even more shocking. Tampa just trades for Matt, drafts his younger brother in a nice gesture to fullfil one of his life long dreams of being drafted into the NHL....and then they trade Matt very shortly thereafter.
I never understood that, and still don't. Clearly, there's no bad blood which is good. Must have been one of those necessary business decisions.
I think Matt liked Tampa, but Melrose didn't like Matt. (Just speculation)
Isn't there a family connection with the owner of the Lightning? I seem to remember that they drafted David as a gesture, since the owner's son was close with him. Something like that...
That ownership group that drafted David Carle is no longer owns the Lightning.
Forgot that Melrose was there. Man, just when I think I couldn't dislike him any more.
Davey is a complete stud. this is so very cool. I've said it here a couple times before - and I'll say it again. Matt has repeatedly said, that his brother DaveTis a better is a better hockey player than he is. Matt said it when he was still playing at DU, and he's said it during Dave's senior year. I think Dave is going to be very successful in hockey. You're first day on the job, you Walk into an office that just won a league championship is a pretty damn good start, I'd say. And he's got Baldy as his Supervisor to boot..... very very cool. We may not be Packers' fans.... but we DU fans damn sure have ties to Green Bay! Go get 'em Dave.... we're so proud of you!
I hope Carle and LaLonde are building an underground tunnel from Green Bay to Denver.... keep those recruits coming, guys. We have 2 DU Salesmen spreading the good word about the crimson & gold across the USHL. "No son, you don't want to go play hockey at BC; say....have you ever been to Colorado?...... those mountains sure are pretty....."
Melrose doesnt like anything except himself.
