Surprised Gabe dropping down to CHL. He was such a beast in college. Will never forget him going 5-hole on Jimmy Howard after the sweet pass from Connor James off the boards. Damn that's a good memory.
As I recall, Gabe played a game or two with the L.A. Kings?? If so, cool that he got his shot. I'm surprised, too, that he's not in the AHL at least. But man, good memories from Gabe when he was at DU. Beast is the right word. He was an amazing player--the 2004 national championship goal makes him a DU legend, as does his great play in 2005. I will never forget sitting in the stands in Columbus at the Frozen Four, and seeing his laser shot with 10 seconds left in the 2nd period to essentially seal the deal in the rout of CC. 2-TIME NATIONAL CHAMPION. Not bad. Good luck to Gabe with the Eagles!
Actually, nothing boring about it. It's great to see that Gabe is playing hockey, probably still having fun with it. And the fact that he was involved in winning 2 national championships directly at North Dakota's expense should shut up some of those morons for a while. Wonder if those fools can remember Colorado Springs and Columbus. Such nice memories (for us, at least).
Gabe was never really expected to be an NHL player. He was not drafted, so the fact that he played a handful of NHL games is a huge accomplishment. Add to that a closet full of college honors, a captaincy and a pair of National Championship rings gave hime a great college experience.
Gabe is exactly where he wants to be. He is happily newly married to a nice gal and wants to live in Denver. He is starting a hockey business here. He achieved the experience of playing N.H.L. He buried that great NCAA winning goal in Boston which is one of the all time D.U. hockey stories. Please explain where there is a problem.
Don't know if it's been mentioned here yet - but the 2012 roster is up on the DU Website!! We're getting closer to hock-ay!! Couldn't help but notice that Danny Olzewski's name does not appear on the menu......
Yemi, great player and name. I'm pretty sure he played with little Billups when we were one game away from making the tourney. It's taking us years to get back to that point, but it seems that Scott has us on the brink once again.

Eagles is the ECHL
Thanks for the correction. I keep forgetting they moved to the ECHL.
Me too. Thanks for the correction.
What a big career accomplishment for Gabe. DU is a breeding ground for the ECHL.

Must be boring in North Dakota this time of year for some people.
Must be boring around Denver to be tracking all your ECHL stars.
Nah, Broncos season officially started today.
We have too many things to entertain us.
Such bad sports fans we are :(
Hope you get enough weight put on for the winter!!!

Have fun celebrating a Stanley Cup that means nothing for North Dakota in reality.
How did those players in the finals do in the NCAA tournament while in college?
I forget again who they lost to, silly me.

Former University of Denver men's basketball star Yemi Nicholson signed a contract to play for Energa Czarni Slupsk in Poland for the 2012-13 season.
Nicholson played for BK Prostejov in the Czech Republic last season, averaging 10.5 points and seven rebounds in 26 minutes per game.

Gabe is starting a hockey business? I thought he was joining Mark Rycroft selling scooters. Gabe has the look of a scooter salesman.
