Pioneer Legend Recovers From Medical Episode

Jim Wiste
During an afternoon hockey scrimmage last Friday at Magness Arena, Jim Wiste (Class of '68) suffered a heart attack and collapsed as he was ending a shift. Quick action by several of his teammates who were trained in CPR kept Jimmy functioning until a Difibulator was brought to the ice.

A 911 first responder team arrived within 5 minutes and Jim regained consciousness shortly thereafter.

Quick action by his teammates and the medical equipment on hand at DU saved his life.  Jimmy has been able to thank Doug (The Glove!) Bell and Mike Kofsky who were brilliant performing CPR.

Doctors will implant a defibrillator on Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

Joanie has been a loving and vigilant partner at his side in the hospital and taking care of business at the Campus Lounge.

Those who want to send him best wishes can do so at jwiste@aol.com.
