(above) Post kicks off Monty Era by calling him "John" in photo caption |
From: Denver Post"It's been pretty crazy. At first there were a lot of questions, beginning with why? Everyone wants to know why he got fired, why this was happening. There was definitely a lot of upset players, including myself. If you look at all the success, you ask, 'Why did he get fired?' After the last couple days we've been embracing (Montgomery). The time has come, change is happening, and we have a new head coach."-DU Forward Daniel Doremus

CONGRATULATIONS, COACH.
WELCOME TO DU.
THANK YOU FOR COMING ON BOARD.
GOOD LUCK. YOU HAVE OUR SUPPORT.
Montgomery’s first day on the job and he’s already at the bar. Hope Wiste called him a cab for the ride home.
What's the over/under on how many times this tool makes a DUI reference? I think it's already up to about 7
6:26....the booze jokes just get funnier and funnier. Keep em coming, slapdick.
CBS 4 Denver on their Xfinity Monday Live! show at 6:30 MT will have an interview with our new Hockey coach. Online at http://denver.cbslocal.com/xfinitymondaylive/ for those not in the Denver Metro area.
Jeff
...and then he closed his remarks with a hearty "Go, Boone!" And that's when the Pio Nation woke up. I hope he effectively fills the "little big shoes" he has to step into.
It wouldn't hurt my feelings any if Jimmy/John can recruit some defensemen who can score over 100 goals in their careers. Yup, I'd definitely approve of that.
Great hire by DU. George was a big time me me me kind of guy. Wanted the bucks but every time they lost he threw someone under the bus. George was a joke to me and i am a prominent alumni hockey guy.
If you are so prominent, tell us who you are and we will decide if you are prominent..... or a joke
@ Anon 1:23 AM:
This isn't the first time I've heard such sentiments from hockey alumni and former players of Gwoz's....
Not the first time I've heard complaints about Gwoz, but I've certainly heard a lot more praise from former players than negative comments.
I'm not connected and basically have no clue on the subject, but it does seem odd that Gwoz was so successful and recruited such good players that he wasn't, in a vast majority of the cases, loved by his players. And, it's not like Gwoz took over UND/Minn/Boston C/U with an established pipeline, he took DU from the doormat to top 5 or 10 programs in the country.
If this blog is going to tweak the Post for the Jim/John typo, it might be a good idea to have a look at the content at the top of the right column.
Just sayin'
