(above) DU Alum Mike Rosen spoke out of the recent mascot search committee debacle |
“Opposition to Denver Boone was self-indulgent, hypersensitive political correctness from its inception. Denver Boone is fun and harmless. The problem isn’t with the mascot, it’s with the sanctimonious crybabies that have made this an issue. … As an alum, I’m disappointed.”-Mike Rosen, radio talk show host [850 AM-KOA] and DU MBA-Business

We were talk show hosts wet dream for 6 months! Embarrassing...
I've been a season ticket holder for many years. I refuse to buy any food, drink, or merchandise at the school until DU gets their act together regarding Boone.
It wouldn't piss me off so much about a new mascot if they didn't demonize the old mascot.
Thanks for the article.
Boonetown, so help me God, if your reduction in beer purchases turns out to be the reason DU is forced to raise my 24 oz Molson prices to Pepsi Center-ian levels, I'm gonna be pissed...
Is that a toupee?
Once the National Review got ahold of the story it was only a matter of time before Fox News jumped into the act.

Can "Hannity on Campus" be far behind?
The comments on the Fox News story are priceless.
Here's what one DU Alum said on Facebook today on the University of Denver Page...
"Not one red cent.
As alum of Daniels College and the son of a faculty member, I am appalled that the university has so lost touch with reality and bowed down to the divisive, and frankly unrealistic and racist politics of political correctness to the point where Denver Boone won't even be considered as a mascot is offensive and downright stupid.
Therefore, since you refusing to even be reasonable about considering Boone, an action beyond stupid, I am refusing to support the university financially.
I hope that other alumni do this as well.
When a university is afraid of the open debate of ideas, then hope is hard to come by.
Referring to the current administration as idiots and fools is an insult to idiots and fools everywhere.
Paul Fletcher, MBA, PMP
DCB class of 1995
Wow! That last sentence by Fletcher is a true dagger to the heart.
I just sent another email to Kevin Carroll and Coombe. This made up controversy has cost DU, time, money and standing in the community. What they have created is a PR nightmare.
Don't hold your breath waiting for any of them to say they made a mistake.
I think they are gravely aware they made some massive mistakes opening up this can of worms.
Whether or not they realize the damage they have done or the long-term ramifications of their actions is another matter entirely.
Even after all this time, nobody from DU seems to know how to defend their course of action.
The current spokespeople keep defaulting to "The Students Asked for this."
Bullshit. The student government asked for it, without clear consent from the student body.
DU should have never taken this on.
"The students asked for this" is a lie.
