What's next? Pay as you exit?
Say what you will about Monty, at least he's making DU hockey affordable.
All kidding aside, selling tickets for five bucks is a great thing rather than letting the seats go to waste.
Another marketing blunder. DU has yet again devalued my season ticket. Like many people in my section, I'm looking at switching from both nights to a single game on Saturday night. I can watch the Friday night game on television and pick up freebies like this one here and there.
To be fair to DU, they didn't blast this $5 special deal around PioNation.
We found out about it from a fan who purchased a ticket online earlier in the season.
Needless to say we wanted our readers to have a chance to bring some new fans to the Arena.
Wow, DU is offering 5 dollar tickets, and some people are complaining. Sorry your investment in season tickets is devalued???
Agreed.
Lets get Magness full again.
And if you're a season ticket holder by a dozen extra $5 tickets and bring your friends, neighbors, co-workers, kids, relatives and whomever.
The team needs some buzz around it. Only solution is winning. But that might not happen on a consistent basis this season, I fear. So it could just be a strange "in between" year for DU hockey. Hope I'm wrong, and that the team gets on a roll at some point. Remember, DU is not entitled to 20 win seasons, like we had under Gwoz. It's a tough accomplishment to achieve on a regular basis, and we may realize that this year.
If $5 tickets get more families and casual fans in the door, great. Bargain tickets are a good start on the road to filling the arena. In this day an age of ridiculous ticket prices and overpriced entertainment options, 5 bucks for an NCAA hockey game is a steal. I remember going to an Avs game a couple years ago. $90/ticket to sit down fairly low on one of the ends. Thrown in parking and a few beers and it was well over $200 for two people. I'll gladly take a $5 DU ticket.
I agree with Twister. $5 makes the amount I paid for my DU season ticket look overpriced.
I've wished for a long time that they'd take more of a revenue management approach with tickets. Make season tickets slightly less expensive and you might sell more. And like DG said, better to be selling seats for cheap than to be letting them go vacant. An empty arena hurts the brand more than cheap tickets.
I need to applaud the University for resolving this issue. I was contacted by the ticket office concerning the difference in price and they have credited my account giving me the $5 price for my tickets. Let's Go DU!
