Denver Neighbor Stages Unique Defense

A DU neighbor is in the news.  Observatory Park resident Richard Kirk is charged with the April 14, 2014 homicide of his wife. At the time, he had consumed marijuana edibles and was hallucinating when she made a 911 call to police.

Attorneys for Kirk are arguing 'marijuana intoxication' and plead 'not guilty by reason of insanity' in pretrial filings. This defense is a legal first since Colorado legalized recreational marijuana.
