Heinen Named to CHN Preseason All-America Team

On Tuesday, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) announced that three players from the conference were named to the College Hockey News (CHN) 2015-2016 preseason All-America team. The three players honored are:

D Andy Welinski, Senior - Minnesota Duluth
D Paul LaDue, Junior - North Dakota
F Danton Heinen, Sophomore - Denver

Heinen and Welinski were named to the first team while LaDue was named to the second team.

The only conference with more players (3) named to the first team is the ECAC.

This is an honor very well-deserved by Heinen as he came off one of the best freshman campaigns in the country in 2014-2015. He finished the year with 16 goals and 31 assists for 45 points in 40 games. 26 of those points came in NCHC play, which led all freshmen.

Heinen will look to follow up that performance with an even better 2015-2016 campaign. If he can somehow improve upon his freshman season, the Hobey Baker Award committee will have no choice but to at least notice.

Heinen has added 25 pounds since last year - now at 186 lbs.

He flew under a lot of radar last year as a freshmen, but this year he'll be targeted by other defenses. That's where Moore, Shore and Terry need to step up.

For the Freshies....Watch out for Troy Terry this year. I know a kid who played with him here from mite to Pee Wee here and he was _exceptional_ even then. He's already drafted, so he's probably going to be the next jedi here at DU.

So, I don't usually mind if a non-profit site uses my photos, but they are my photos to which I have exclusive right and you should probably have asked if you could use my photo of Heinen,
