Off Topic - When Things Go Terribly Wrong at DIA
As new and returning students, alumni, and staff return to Denver for the new school year, many will be traveling thru Denver International Airport (DIA). Originally designed by Fentress Bradburn Architects, the spectacular structure made of fabric suggests snow capped mountains rising from the high plains. Clearly, one of our country's most spectacular and unique structures.
Instead of snow capped mountains, new visitors will be greeted by an odd, dark glass structure. The nearly completed Westin Hotel & Conference Center blocks the entire view of the airport canopies and hangs awkwardly over the entrance drive. Some say it looks like a bird, a ship, a mustache or a bow tie. When Denver is doing so much right...this?
