Colorado College Invited to White House

May 25, 1957

Dear Coach Bedecki,

Vice-President Nixon and I would like to congratulate Colorado College on your recent National Championship in Men's Ice Hockey. As you know, I often visit Colorado Springs to play golf at the Broadmoor Resort. I can't tell you how proud Mimi and I are of your team of fine young men. We will look for your Championship Banner on our next visit to the Broadmoor.
.
I understand this is your second National Championship, but I am sure that this is just the beginning of many more to follow. If you and the team get an opportunity to travel out East, you have an open invitation to visit the White House.
.
Sincerely,
.
Dwight D. Eisenhower "Ike"

OK, I recycled this blog entry from November, but hey its the off season and I need to work on my golf game.

Has it really been 50 years since CC won a National Championship? It seems like just last year, they were hoisting the NC Trophy...Oh wait that was DU in Columbus.

Where's the letter congratulating DU on the finish in there own tournament and there great showing in the NCAA last year?

President Eisenhower died in 1969, so I'm afraid there aren't going to be any letters for DU regarding "their" Denver Cup or NCAA Participation.

The letter(s) for our last two championships have disappeared along with the Gold Pan (commemorating our dominance of the program down south for the last couple of years). Of course, the "letters" were not from Ike, but actually from several respected world leaders whose only interest in "that sport played on ice" is the DU hockey program. Rumor has it that the search for these "letters" has recently been intensified.
