Matt Carle Sent To AHL
San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has assigned right wing Steve Bernier and defenseman Matt Carle to the Worcester Sharks, the team’s top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.

Carle, 22, currently leads all Sharks defensemen with 21 points (3-18=21). Among League rookies, he is sixth in points, fourth in assists and tied for third in power play points (2-10=12) in 39 games played.

The six-foot, 205-pound native of Anchorage, Alaska was selected by San Jose in the second round (47th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Matt's been struggling lately so the Sharks want him to go down for a few games and get his confidence back. I wish they could send down some other players who deserve it more like Bell or Cheechoo.

Well he better get back up there soon or the Sharks will be off my list of favorite teams...

Hah! I feel the same way, dg... Of course, the Sharks are bumped to my #3 team now that Conner's up with Dallas for a while.

I could't believe that when I first read your post since Carle has been awesome in the SJ line up.

Goon,

San Jose is a smart/well run organization. I suspect they know what they are doing...at least I hope so.

I am hoping Carle is back soon too, SJ is one of my teams since Boston Threw Joe Thornton under the bus. Maybe they just want him to get his confidence back up.

They announced during tonight's Shark game that he's been recalled. Hmmm. He hasn't played in Worcester since Sunday while the Sharks played two games mid-week. Smells like sending him down and keeping him down there all week was partially to save some Salary Cap $$. Tacky.

Interesting comment about the Salary Cap. We had heard some rumors of the Salary Cap being a factor. Pioneer Nation is glad to see him back with the Sharks.
