Two UNO Hockey Players Suspended For Season
Told Police, "You can't **** with me. I play for the Mavs"
Omaha, Neb. - Two University of Nebraska-Omaha hockey players were arrested on suspicion of public intoxication Sunday night in Council Bluffs, and they both have been suspended for the rest of the season.
Senior Bobby Henderson (upper left), 24, and sophomore Adam Bartholomay (lower left), 23, neither of whom practiced with the team Monday, won't suit up for the Mavs again in 2006-07, UNO coach Mike Kemp said.
According to Council Bluffs police reports, officers were called to Harrah's Casino (I hope the boys weren't gambling with their textbook money) at 7:30 p.m. Sunday about some intoxicated males causing a disturbance.
When officers confronted Henderson, the report said, he told police, "I am a hockey player. I'll get out of this (Memo to UNO hockey players: There aren't many hockey fans in Nebraska)." Inside the police car, the report said, Henderson began to head butt the cage and yell "I play for the Mavs. You can't (expletive) with me (Memo to Henderson: You don't play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team)."

Unbelievably the UNO Athletics Website lists Henderson's major as "Criminal Justice." (The major in criminal justice provides students with a knowledge of the causes of crime, as well as the workings of the criminal justice system (police, courts, and corrections) and law in society. Courses include topics such as theories of crime, dispute resolution, drugs and crime, child abuse and neglect, gangs, policing, and private security).
Public intoxication is a simple misdemeanor punishable by up to a $500 fine and up to 30 days in jail. Both players bonded out Sunday by paying $325 each.
Kemp said Monday afternoon he was unaware of the specific details behind the arrest (Hope Coach Kemp reads this blog, we'll give him the whole story). The suspensions handed out to the two players, the coach said, were a result of their violating team rules by being involved in such an incident.
Henderson, a 6-foot defenseman from Langley, B.C., had no goals and one assist in 12 games this season. He'll finish his UNO career with zero goals, five assists and 185 penalty minutes in 64 games (those aren't the kind of numbers that will win you a Hobey Baker Award).
Bartholomay, a 5-11 forward and defenseman from Agoura Hills, Calif., had 19 points while playing in 30 of the Mavs' 32 games in 2006-07. One of UNO's most versatile skaters, Bartholomay was tied for third on the team with 10 goals (He should transfer to St. Cloud. Look what the Huskies did for Bobby Goepfert's career).
At this point, Kemp said, he's uncertain about Bartholomay's status beyond this season.

If I ever get arrested I wonder if the "you can't **** with me, I CHEER for the Mavs" will work?!?
Good point. I'd throw in a, "Don't **** with me. Anything you do is going straight in the Blog."
What is it with the Sunday night drinking as both UND and UNO have now had players thrown in the hoosegow for partying on Sunday nights at local watering holes.
Good idea! I'll keep a camera on me too, so I can take a pic and let the cops know "oh, this pic WILL make the blog, bitches!"
The fact the one kid was a criminal justice major shold have given this kid a clue.
you say there are few hockey fans in Nebraska....
well there are fewer in Council Bluffs IOWA, where they were arrested.

dggoddard, DOn't know where the All Bad Boyz Team is, but here's my first attempt. Could you help me fill in the gap?
First Team
Adam Bartholomay (A) - 3rd leading scorer on his (maybe) former team. Can't mess with this guy.
TJ Oshie - Caught in a bar yet couldn't find it in him to actually partake. Half arsed if you ask me.
Jonathon Toews - Probably should be an honorable mention since technically he's legal age in Canada and a few US states... but who else would you put here?
Defense:
Robbie Bina (A)- DWI and Obstructing Police Work in the span of a year. A good guy, for sure, but you don't screw up twice in a year and get away with it.
Henderson (C)- Love for the senior. You screwed your senior year pal. Good work.
Good work Redwing. We'll probably name the team when the WCHA All-Star team is named.
For the goaltenders we have three candidates Briggs, Lamoureoux & the BU backup. Right now its a tossup.
I don't think Oshie & Towes will make the final team. The Yale boyz are strong candidates.
As always we'll have the Fan Vote diring Frozen Four week and announce the winner five minutes before the Hobey Baker winner is named.
