Sweden Drops USA White In Shootout
Ruegsegger & Rakhshani Notch Two Points Each

It was a bittersweet night for the two DU Pioneer players attempting to secure a spot on the US World Under 20 Team in Lake Placid. Team White fell to Sweden, 4-3 in a shootout, but Tyler Ruegsegger had two assists and Rhett Rakhshani had a goal and an assist. They also were paired on the power play unit with the University of Minnesota's star player Kyle Okposo.

Team White struck first against Sweden on the power play when Okposo notched power-play tally at the 3:00 mark assisted by Ruegsegger & Rakhshani. At the end of the first period USA White led 2-1.

In the second frame, Rakhshani buried a rebound into the open goal to give Team Blue a 3-1 lead at 3:41. The goal was also assisted by Ruegsegger.

Sweden scored the lone goal of the final period with 1:31 left in regulation to tie the game, 3-3.

After a scoreless five-minute overtime, the game went to a shootout, where Sweden’s prevailed. Ruegsegger & Rakhshani did not shoot during the shootout.

Team White will face Finland tomorrow at 4 p.m. EDT.
