MADISON, Wisc. - A pair of natural hat tricks have boosted two league-member players into Red Baron WCHA co-Offensive Players of the Week honors for Dec. 11-17 in the University of Alaska Anchorage's Paul Crowder and the University of Denver's Rhett Rakhshani.
Rakhshani, a 5-10, 180-pound sophomore forward from Huntington Beach, Calif., scored four of Denver's six goals - including a natural hat trick on Dec. 8 - in a pair of 3-2 league road victories over St. Cloud State.
He, too, scored all three of his natural hat trick goals in the third period last Saturday evening, including a shorthander and the eventual game-winner.
On the season, Rakhshani is second on the DU team with 14 points (7g, 7a). A New York Islanders (NHL) draftee, he was recently named to the 2008 U.S. National Junior Team Roster.
