Kevin Doell was credited with his first career NHL assist in the Atlanta Thrashers 5-1 upset over the Detroit Red Wings last night. Doell was recently called up from the Thrashers AHL affiliate in Chicago.

Earlier this season, Doell recorded a natural hat-trick in just 77 seconds for the AHL Chicago Wolves, just one week after Rhett Rakhshani's 6 minute hattie against SCSU. The video highlights show the goals about halfway throgh the clip (Doell #21).

Doell recorded 136 points (62 goals, 74 assists) in 158 games over four seasons at University of Denver from 1999-2003.

Five former DU Pioneers are currently playing in the National Hockey League; Matt Carle (San Jose), Kevin Doell (Atlanta), Wade Dubielewicz (New York Islanders), Matt Pettinger (Washington) and Paul Stastny (Colorado).
