"First, the bad news: after reading a report from Gregg Drinnan of the Kelowna Daily News that Brock Trotter is leaving Denver to sign with the Montreal Canadiens and play with their AHL affiliate in Hamilton, Ontario, I reached out to both the Canadiens PR department and a source very familiar with the team. The Canadiens have no official comment at this time, but based on the other information I've received, I wouldn't be surprised to hear something tomorrow morning on Trotter signing.
Of course, the reports out of Denver over the past week - not to mention Trotter's absence against Minnesota State last weekend - lead us to believe that this move isn't entirely Trotter's choice. If that's the case, then obviously, it's very unfortunate. I really like Trotter's game, and Trotter was very nice when I spoke with him in person last year around this time. I do hope that Trotter can overcome whatever issues forced him to leave Denver and have a successful career as a pro."
