WCHA Reprimands North Dakota Hockey Coach

MADISON, Wisc. - The WCHA has today issued a public reprimand of University of North Dakota men's head hockey coach Dave Hakstol for violating the league's Code of Conduct and Sportsmanship policies following last Saturday's (Feb. 2) conference game against the University of Minnesota.

In addition, the WCHA has endorsed the strong actions and stern tone taken by the University of North Dakota and now considers this issue closed.

The University of North Dakota announced earlier today that it has suspended Coach Hakstol for the next two regularly-scheduled games and issued him a stern letter of reprimand with a clear warning that there will be no tolerance for any such actions in the future.

"The WCHA echoes President (Charles E.) Kupchella's concerns over the actions of Coach Dave Hakstol in the game that occurred on Feb. 2," said Bill Hudson, Faculty Representative from St. Cloud State University and Chair of the Association. "We appreciate the rapid response and action taken by the University of North Dakota today and we are in complete agreement with that decision."
