WCHA Scoring Drought Continues For 4th Year

This won't be a surprise -- an all-time record low for goal scoring was reached in the WCHA this season.

The regular season is over and the numbers have been crunched. In 140 league games there were 701 goals. That's 5.00 per league game. That's 2.50 per team per game. That's an all-time record low for a fourth straight year following 2.75 in 2006-07, 3.00 in 2005-06 and 3.05 in 2004-05.

Ninety-six of the 140 WCHA games were decided by one goal (35) or two goals (41), or ended in ties (20).

Final regular-season scorring averages in the other Division I leagues (per team, per league game): College Hockey America 3.03, Atlantic Hockey 2.82, CCHA 2.80, ECAC 2.69 and Hockey East 2.66.

Well I can think of at least TWO more goals that should have been added to the WCHA total this season!
