GO IRISH!

It was so much fun to be there! Lots of different folks from all over, just college hockey fans.

Thanks again to MagnessMan for getting me in to see great hockey this postseason.

Good luck to the Irish on Saturday!

The only way I can describe the BC UND game is it was a true trail of tears...

Last time I saw Jethro he was hitching up the mules to the wagon train for the long trek back to the barren wasteland.

Talk about major pawnage on Boston College's part. lol

I'm so happy ND out, earlier today when I was on campus 5 ND fans had the nerve to walk around the DU campus parading their colors. Man I thought I'd puke from seeing that. Serves them right they get humiliated like that.

I certainly enjoyed seeing North Dakota get punked and their national anthem desecrators get all sad and quiet. I must admit that, although I dislike the green clad fans, it was kind of cool seeing a fanbase out in force like that. They were loud and boisterous coming into the Pepsi Center.

The second game started almost like the first game with the other UND taking the 3-0 lead. Michigan came back valiently and it was a very exciting OT finish.

The Pepsi center was packed with the typical Frozen Four atmosphere. The attendance was awesome and stated at over 18,500! I think a good time was had by all for the experience.

I ran into several friends of many different teams which is one of the best parts of the Frozen Four. I certainly hope people are enjoying my stomping grounds.

Here's to ongoing fun at the 2008 FF!

It'll be a long buggy ride back to Grand Forks for those knuckle draggers. Good riddance.

the question is, who do we want to win Saturday??

Hard to say.

Notre Dame may be the "Sleeping Giant" in college hockey and a championship might drum up the last $5 million they need for a new arena.

BC always seems to be competing with DU for recruits.

Notre Dame has never won a National Championship. BC won in 1949 & 2001.

I guess for the good of college hockey you might cheer for Notre Dame. :-)

Great atmosphere at Pepsi last night. I'm sure tomorrow night will be even better.

I wish DU had a pep band. Bands add a lot of positive energy to the game.

Like most DU fans, I was not heartbroken to see UND lose. However, I was surprised at how that game went down. UND was soundly beaten in every phase of the game. BC looked very impressive. They are fast, mean, strong on the puck, and play with intensity and an edge. There were numerous Sioux players knocked down flat on their cans with hard clean hits. BC looked as physically strong on the boards as any team I've seen. They were able to push the Sioux around on many occasions. #26 for BC, who I believe is a freshman defenseman, was very impressive. Gerbe was as good as advertised. UND just looked overmatched. And Lamoreaux seemed to get rattled early and never recovered.

The second game was a classic. Notre Dame looked like the fresher team in the OT and deserved the win. Congratulations to them.

I think BC gets the win on Sat, although I'll be rooting for the Irish.

I wish DU had the same enthusiasm as the North Dakota fans. I think what the do to the National Anthem is horrible.

I enjoyed going to my first frozen four. I got to meet Gerry Powers at the reception before the game. I was at DU when he played.

What do Sioux fans do to the anthem? I guess I didn't notice anyhting yesterday while their band was playing the anthem.

Twister, if you can't figure out what UND does to desecrate the anthem, then you are either deaf or don't pay attention at games.

Twister said...

Not deaf.......guess I don't pay close enough attention to what Sioux fans are doing during the anthem. Usually I'm looking at the flag and listening to the performer. I've seen plenty of games at Magness vs. UND and haven't heard anything out of the ordinary. Yesterday the ND band played the anthem, and I didn't hear anything organized coming from the crowd. So....please enlighten me.

If you haven't seen a game at REA it's not as evident, but UND fans substitute "sioux" for "brave" at the end of the anthem. Thus "home of the brave" becomes "home of the sioux." Classless and in poor taste, to say the least.

Jordan said...

Uh, not to rain on anyone's Sioux bashing parade, but the student section at DU games does the exact same thing with Pioneers.

"And the home of the PIONEERS!"

Anonymous said...

I have season tickets, and I have never heard the student section say Home of Pioneers. I have heard North Dakota yell Home of The Sioux every game.

Anonymous said...

Yes, if 'Sioux' was synonymous with 'brave', you'd think the UND fans would be happy to leave 'brave' as is. Obviously 'Sioux' means something different...

I have gone to several differnt schools hockey games and have heard the home team declare their mascot name for "the brave", it is typically done in the student section.

Anon 9:32 you must not be able to hear then. I'm in the student section every game. It happens. Every single game. Just listen and watch everyone put their arms up and scream Pioneers. Sorry guys.

And on a side note, Anderson screwed the Frozen Four championship game over in classic fashion.

UND fans were chanting for Shepherd. And I rode back on the light rail with CC fans that started up the conversation about Anderson and Shepherd sucking monkey butt at calling games.

Thats how you know its bad- when a DU fan, a CC fan, and UND fans can wholeheartedly agree about the state of the WCHA officials.

Everyone e-mail g.shepherd@mailstation.com and voice your concerns for officiating standards. We can all hope, but seeing as he's been in trouble twice for exploding at little league games and his son is one of the more terrible refs, the outlook is grim.

hoozier, I agree with you, Anderson continued his medicore officiating Saturday night. When will the WCHA wake up about this guy. The only guy worse is Adams, do you think they are related?

I wasn't surprised about Butler, so who is the next one to go??? When will the NHL stop go through the college ranks.
