DU recruit John Lee is one step closer to a USHL Championship as his Waterloo Black Hawks prevailed last night in a thriller over the Omaha Lancers. An exciting but scoreless game between the Waterloo and Omaha Wednesday broke open in the final 20 minutes of regulation; the Hawks scraped out a 3-1 win.
The Black Hawks bounced back nicely after a loss the previous game. Following Monday's loss, its first in the playoffs, Waterloo's players clearly realized they had made a mistake in preparation and probably weren't paying the Lancers enough respect.
Defenseman John Lee said it best.
"This was a real reality check," he said. "I think a lot of guys thought we were just going to walk through this series like the past couple, and obviously that is not the case."
