"Defining A Pioneer" Discussion On Thursday

Campus leaders at the University of Denver have organized a “Defining a Pioneer” community discussion to be held Thursday, November 6, 2008 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in Sturm Hall at the University of Denver.

Interested alumni, students, community members, faculty, staff, and administrators are encouraged to attend. Alums, students, parents, fans and interested parties who are unable to attend are encouraged to email questions, opinions or pertinent information to pioneer@du.edu

The 90 minute program will consist of:
• a video introduction to the history and traditions of the University
• perspectives describing the offending nature of the Boone mascot
• perspectives on the history and traditions of the University from a seasoned professor
• small group discussions on three guiding questions
• large group discussions on the conclusions reached during the breakout sessions

This comment is very off mark. This event is not by the system but a student led initiative to define what it means to be a Pioneer. To those that define a Pioneer with Boone, those voices need to be heard. To those that define a Pioneer with Ruckus those voices need to be heard. Anon, I would appreciate your support and attendance at this event if you are in the Denver area. You obviously care enough to make a post on a message board, you ought to care enough to show up.
