Ottawa Senators Looking At Tyler Bozak?

(Above) More than a few eyes were on Patrick Wiercioch this past weekend

From: OttawaCitizen.com
"Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray was in Denver on the weekend to take a look at Denver University defenseman Patrick Wiercioch, a 2008 entry draft choice, and another free agent assistant general manager Tim Murray had recommended."
Murray caught quite a show as Wiercioch was only able to appear on the power play unit on Saturday night due to a previous injury. Nonetheless, it was his pass to Anthony Maiani that broke open a tight game and gave DU some breathing room against the Gophers.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the mysterious free agent was probably Tyler Bozak. Bozak was easily the most dominant player on the ice all weekend.

There has been a steady stream of NHL General Managers in Magness Arena this season. Vancouver's GM Lorne Henning was in the barn on Saturday night as well. Two weeks ago Calgary's Darryl Sutter visited Magness when DU played Minnesota Duluth. Coincidence? We think not. Let the bidding for Bozak begin.

Nice eyes. We'll add it to the article.

Canada has 6 NHL teams and at least three Canadian General Managers have been in the barn in recent weeks.

Methinks Tyler's going to receive a lot of Canadian dollars this Spring.

With the rookie salary cap in the NHL and with all this attention on Bozak, does anyone think that he might get a "Rookie Max" contract?

It sure seems to be heading that way. A first rounder tops out at $850,000 per year. Is there a different max deal for a free agent?

Obviously Bozak's would be looking for a one-way contract. Could he command a deal like that if interest was high enough?

With every weekend Bozak raises his stock. He's a terrific player and DU is lucky to have him.

Was he a late bloomer? Didn't he beat out Turris for the BCHL scoring title? Hard to figure how the heck he didn't make some team's draft list.

Bozak was very much a late bloomer and went undrfted. He needed two extra junior years before he came to DU as a 21 year old freshman.

Bozak on the Flames would be SWEET. I may be biased.

Brock Trotter was a leading scorer though and he's not exactly a superstar. Then again, Stastny is. We'll see what happens, but whatever does I think we're all pretty sure he's not returning to DU after this season.

I can't recall a DU forward in the "modern era" taking over a game like Bozak did this weekend.

I'm thinking that dg-Bozak-CO14ers could dominate the Gophers. :-)

What a legendary line that would be!

Well, the line would have some size. All over six feet and somewhere around 600-800 total pounds comin at ya!

Yeah. Closer to 800 lbs. for sure.

Bozak would have to hold the puck in the neutral zone while we limped back to the blue line to get back on side. :-)

I'd like to see the look on Kangas' face as CO14ers and I went hard to the net from the wings.

A DG-14ers sandwich :-)

Kangas would be done for the game for sure after getting hit by those two.
