Minnesota 5 - DU 2 Final .... Get To The Game Early On Saturday To Avoid Traffic & Support The Team .... BE LOUD .... Go DU
"We are going to need our fans to be out in full force against the University of Minnesota this weekend."
- Coach Gwozdecky

Alright, I'm fired up for tonight. Last week's games have put me in a bad mood all week and I quit smoking on Sunday so the aggression level is definitely elevated.

I'm ready to be loud tonight. Who's with me? I hate being out cheered at home. The team needs at least 2 points this weekend and they need our help to get them so let's get pumped up.

GAME DAY!
F*** THE GOPHERS.
LET'S GO DU!!

ummm well about 99% of the student body will be on Winter break....so Boonetown might be bit empty

Somebody needs to step up. :-)

Winter break it is only November. Oh well go Pioneers beat the Dirty Gophers. :)

DU is on the quarter system - students are off from school from Nov 18 - Jan 5.

They pack a 15 week semester's worth of courses into a 10 week quarter, and students take three 10week quarters a year, so you end up with 1/3 more courses over your school experience.

Eric J. Burton said...

Wow, that is a long time to be off from school. There must be a good number of students still in Denver though I would assume?

dggoddard said...

Not as many as you would think.

Denver draws a large percentage of its student body from California, Chicago and the east coast.

DU hockey teams have traditionally used the Thanksgiving through Christmas break on road trips & practice. Without the distractions of classes and other students around the team can totally focus on hockey.

Swept at SCSU, drop in the polls, soccer team loses vs KU, and now we've lost the Hemmings photo and have to look at Flattop. Ouch....times are grim.....

Bring Back Boone!!

Bring Back Hemmings!!

LetsGoDU went with the cheesecake last week and the team played like crap.

Sweep the Gophers and we'll consider bringing back the eye candy.

Twister said...

Huge incentive for DU to sweep the Gophers. Come on boys, get it done! :D

Couldn't we call tDon Man of the Weak, er Week?

With this haircut he should wear a helmet when he's behind the bench.

I see St. CLoud just stole one of your potential recruits: Garrett Milan of the BCHL just signed with SCSU....Kevin Allenspach blog:

"The Huskies took a flyer on a recruit that has a reputation of being a blue-chip from Penticton of the BCHL. SCSU made an offer and sent out a letter of intent during the early signing period. Lo and behold, Garrett Milan, a 5-foot-8, 180-pound forward who leads the Vees in scoring, signed and sent it back. Playing for former Huskies assistant coach Fred Harbinson, Milan joins early signees Ben Hanowski, Nick Oliver and Mike Lee who signed last week.

Milan is from Vancouver and won't be 18 until April 5. He apparently had offers from New Hampshire, Denver and North Dakota and was beginning to attract even more heavy recruiting pressure. This is just breaking Monday night, so hopefully I'll have more later.

In 25 games, he has 11 goals and 14 assists. He leads BCHL rookies in scoring, tied with teammate Travis Ouellette, and is tied for 23rd in overall scoring. Milan also has three power-play goals."

Have your fans ever been out in full force?

DU doesn't need any more 5'8 170 pound guys. We need some guys who are 200+ pounds that can play physical.

Twister said...

Is it a blessing Milan is going elsewhere, at least for him? Seems there wouldn't be room for him anyway here.

Any word on Wiercioch? I sure hope he can play this weekend.

du78 said...

Milan is a 2010 recruit of which DU only has one right now. He would not have come in 2009. If DU does get Morin he would be coming in 2009 as a high 1st round draft pick.

No announcement and don't expect one until Bacher hands out the lineup charts on Friday. DU doesn't want to hand this info over to the Gophers either way.

Lets just assume he gets well and can play, because the alternative is too scary to contemplate.

As with any injury, the player feels better every day until he either recovers or the healing stops in which case the injury needs to be fixed.

DU Game Notes released today for the Minny series indicate that Wiercioch is questionable for the weekend and Rahkshani and Testwuide are probable. That is all.

I am with you, I am sick of losing. I want at least 2 points, I want the Pios to come out and be aggressive on both ends of the ice.
And I mean do it from the opening face off. We take no prisoners this weekend!

You will hear we screaming from section 3

dggoddard said...

Glad to hear it. Two people are on board 6,198 to go. :-)

msbdu said...

Add two more people, I am bringing my wife and a DU student. I am tired of the other team's fans being louder than ours. That is ridiculous, it's our house.

Twister said...

I want DU to come out and pound on Minn. and take at least 3 points this weekend. That would be a great birthday present!

I'll have 6 others with me in section 14 or thereabouts, making as much noise as possible.

dggoddard said...

I'll see your three points and raise you to four. Lets take four points this weekend and enjoy ourselves next week. :-)

msbdu said...

DG, that sounds good, I just don't want to be too greedy. Of course my idea of a perfect autumn weekend if for DU to win both games and CC lose both of theirs!

Anonymous said...

The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed -- for lack of a better word -- is good.

Greed is right.

Greed works.

Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit.

Greed, in all of its forms -- greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge -- has marked the upward surge of mankind.

And greed -- you mark my words -- will not only save the University of Denver, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA.

Thank you, DGGhekko!

"malfunctioning corporation called the USA"......couldn't have said it better myself.

At least we have hockey. GO PIONEERS!!!

You must really piss off a lot of lefties at DU by desecrating the Cuban flag AND the murdering communist coward low life, Che Guevara by superimposing Boone on Che's image. Did the original image come from an Obama campaign office?

However I'm a little confused as to why you would associate such a cool icon such as Boone with one of the most vile characters of the past fifty years. True they both have beards but by making any kind of comparison don't you end up reinforcing the lefties argument to get rid of Boone?

Anyway keep up the effort. Boone is much better than that prairie chicken Ruckus or the half eaten jelly donut.

Good job by Puck Swami too on the "Know your opponent" series. Another edit for Swami though. Tim Harrer had 53 goals in 79-80.

It's nice to see someone has decided to profit from the Boone image since DU has decided to pass. Good job. Hopefully we'll see Boone on TV this weekend. Somebody should try and get Woog to comment or to wear a Boone hat or tee shirt on camera.

We have given the Chancellor every opportunity over the past two months to retract his letter.

He has chosen not to play ball.

We now start the revolution. Acts of sabotage, rebellion and outright defiance begin against Coombe's totalitarian regime.

There can't be another school in the country that gives its students absolutely no input into selecting its mascot and logo.

Viva La Boone!
