DU Athletic Department Lays Off 10 Employees

The economic woes that are plaguing higher education across the country were forcefully felt in the University of Denver Athletic Department last week as 10 members of the staff are no longer on the Athletic Department Directory. Many of the staff that left on Friday were long time University of Denver employees, some of whom were the most visible and hard working members of the Athletic Department.

Every major university in Colorado has mentioned layoffs including CU, CSU, CC and DU due to the economy. The private schools were the first to feel the pinch and DU announced a "voluntary severance program" late last year.

CU & CSU are bracing for the expected budget cuts next year by streamlining staff and hiring freezes.

DU really needs to layoff the MORON that decided to eliminate all the HOCKEY shirts, hats, jackets etc. from Magness Area. Every DU hockey game has 7,000+ hockey fans in the building and not 1 shirt, hat, jacket with DU HOCKEY or DENVER HOCKEY on. DENVER is a city in Colorado. DENVER logo is great for the city. It sucks for DU HOCKEY. Wake up DU MARKETING FOLKS.
