Despite plenty of inconsistency and angst this season, Colorado College will move within two points of the University of Denver with a win Friday over the Pioneers.
The Tigers aren't worried about that quite yet. They are fourth in the crowded Western Collegiate Hockey Association, four points behind co-leaders Denver and Wisconsin and three points ahead of sixth-place Minnesota, which has two games in hand on CC.
The team's immediate goals are building off a three-point weekend at Michigan Tech and retaining the Gold Pan, which is given to the winner of the season series between CC and Denver. CC can claim the trophy with a win or tie.
"The three points at Tech were important," coach Scott Owens said. "And you can say two points behind, one behind in the loss column - you can do that all day long - but we're still in that four, five, six range with a difficult finishing schedule." [read rest of article]
