I would like to mention that the Clarion editorial staff needs to pay much closer attention to their work.
There is a rather large difference between "clenched," which was used in the story and "clinched," which is the word they were going for...just saying...
Thank you for pointing out our typo. I wish the Clarion could be flawless, but minor mistakes often occur. We are a student newspaper and we're still learning. We don't have typos because of a lack of effort, we're short staffed and I think anyone would agree that after staring at a page on the computer for over six hours (which was how long this page took to write and design) it is hard to find the one word that is used incorrectly.
We will continue to give it our all and hopefully we won't have more typos like that in the future!
With all due respect to the amount of time you put into that article, that's somewhat of a bullshit excuse. The Clarion has been around for a very long time and stupid errors like that just shouldn't fly.
That's like the Harvard Crimson coming out with errors and justifying them with "new management."
Thank you for taking the time to read the paper and notice our mistakes, but again, the turn around of staff takes place almost every quarter, we may be established as a newspaper for over 100 years, but as writers and journalists we are just beginning and learning. We are not the Denver Post, mistakes and misprints small and large are going to happen, we're learning, thank you for letting us know so that we can work harder to improve our quality.
As a former Clarion Sports Editor myself in the mid 80s, I can speak with authority on the incredible anout of effort that it takes to put out the paper. They aren't pros, and the paper is run by students, not the School of Communications.
Give the kids a break. They are doing a really nice job.

While they are at it, they might want to check who is the CC coach!

On a lighter note, GO DU!
