The Colorado Avalanche recalled defenseman and DU alum Aaron MacKenzie to play Sunday night against Vancouver. MacKenzie helped the Avs defeat the Canucks 4-1 and was +1 on the evening.
MacKenzie became the 10th Colorado player to make his NHL debut this season, the most in a single season for the injury-plagued Avalanche. He was recalled earlier this season on Nov. 29, but did not appear in a game before being reassigned the next day.
The 28-year-old played for the University of Denver. He has three goals and nine assists in 52 games for Lake Erie this season.

Great for Aaron!
Add another Pioneer to the "played in the NHL" list, and for a 28 year old, he's been waiting a long time to play in the "show".
Even if his NHL career is just one game, this helps put a happy note for a career filled with long nights in places like mWorcester, Peoria and Cleveland, wondering if the big club would ever call...
