We should send Coombe the picture with the schoolchildren just showing him that different ethnic groups like Boone.
All children love the mascot. Race isn't the issue.
Whats at issue is a university that willfully ignored the the protestations of its alumni, students and community and pretended that their complaints didn't exist.
D.C. was a huge success and I'd estimate that over 10,000 school children saw the mascot this weekend. One former DU parent remarked dryly, "Boone ought to be handing out applications, because this would be a bonanza of potential students in 10 years."
Great work! Did Gwoz or any of the Pio players who were there get a chance to see Boone?
Gwoz met the mascot during the Miami-Bemidji game between periods.
His comment. "Um, when did this happen?"
I think there are going to be quite a few DU people who will have the same reaction as Gwoz, as sightings of the new mascot gets around Denver...
Gwoz's reaction is a little disappointing. I would have hoped for a little more enthusiasm.
I introduced Gwoz (and coach Appert) to the new Boone last night and both thought it was awesome! Gwoz was very curious as to how this came about and just loved that it did.
