Tyler Bozak Press Conference Video & Links

Latest Tyler Bozak Articles and Links

Former Cornell & NHL star Joe Nieuwendyk played a role in Tyler Bozak's decision to play for Toronto.

NHL.com has an article about Bozak's press conference yesterday.

Tyler Bozak finished his DU career with a 5-1-1 record against the Minnesota Gophers. At least one WCHA coach will be excited to see the "Gopher Killer" playing professional hockey.

Mike Chambers of the Denver Post covers the Bozak signing.

Even his own press conference... the Leafs are really making a huge deal about him.

Really happy to see him up there though... I hope Don Cherry gives him reps. He'll be watching him ya know it lol.

"I hope this is the last year we're a destination for the college player," Burke said. "Tyler's being polite and he's here because of the opportunity. But I'm not (being polite) – we hope we're not the destination of choice for college players."

Wow, just...wow

I think Burke was referring to the fact that Toronto has so many roster slots available for incoming players. IMO it was intended as a slam at Toronto's lack of depth, than the NCAA.

Burke got many of his opportunities in his career because of his college connections and signing college players as an agent.

Burke was born in RI, grew up in Minnesota played and captained at Providence College. I don't think he's anti-NCAA in any way shape or form.

Burke is not anti-NCAA. He said in that press conference he does not care where a player is from, whether it is the CHL, NCAA, or European leagues. In a separate interview, which is not posted here but was on Leafs TV in Toronto, he praised it as a development league and the improvements it has made.

He wants the team to improve next year and doesn't want to be in a position where he has to contend for free agents to fix the Leafs lack of prospect depth.

By the way, thought a few of you might be interested with this one-on-one interview Bozak did with Leafs TV.

He sounds like a great guy and we're all excited to have him in Toronto. We're certain he will make the team out of training camp next year and will get a big role. The Leafs have had at least 10 (possibly 11) rookies make their debut this year, so you should be able to see a lot of Bozak next season.

Thank you for this blog, it has been very insightful and has only helped to reaffirm that we're getting a great prospect.

You're welcome. I'm more than happy to give you updates when the Leafs prospect camp happens in the summer and our training camp.

I'm assuming you're all Avs fans here, I may be wrong, but I want to apologize for Raycroft. =\

Better luck next season for both your NHL and NCAA team!

Nice comments Anonymous in Toronto. Congratulations on getting a great kid! Hated to see the Avs fail to get him, but it sounds like a great situation for him. We wish him the best of luck!

Honestly, Ive never seen such a big deal made out of a player who will no longer be playing for "your" team anymore. Wierd...Its like you have never had a player go to the pro's before. Whats next hugs and kisses?
