DU alum Connor James signed with the German Hockey League team Ausgburg Panthers last week. James spent the last several seasons in the Pittsburgh Penguins organization playing for the Wilkes-Barre Penguins in the AHL.
James was originally drafted and signed by the LA Kings after graduating and winning a National Championship with the University of Denver in 2004.

Smart move.
He's a good player but will never be a regular in the NHL. I always thought he would have been better off in Europe.
I would think that playing overseas may open up some (non-NHL)doors for him in the future, as opposed to say doing another year or 2 more in the AHL then over to the CHL to play "paycheck" hockey. Don't get me wrong though; CJ sure hit the top in the NCAA. Good luck to him.
Good luck, Connor. He, Caldwell, Berkhoel, & Co. put DU hockey back on the map!
