News & Notes From Around Pioneer Nation

The USA Under-20 Evaluation Camp continued for DU Freshman Matt Donovan with a second scrimmage against the Russians. The US won again 6-1, but there was no mention of Donovan on the scoresheet.

The USA Under-18 Select Team scored the game-winner on a penalty shot with less than seven minutes remaining in regulation to earn a 3-2 victory against Finland in the 2009 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament. DU recruit Scott Mayfield, who will come to DU in 2011, did not appear on the scoresheet.

The University of Denver Hockey 60th Anniversary Committee is hard at work and have published a list of attendees who have committed to attend the events on Opening Weekend (Oct.9-11). Some of the biggest names in DU Hockey history are on the list.

Do you know why Stephen Cunningham has been removed from the roster?? We can't find any info about him?

He is no longer on the hockey team.

He's a very good student, but apparently either his hockey performance or off-ice issues have likely ended his career as a Pioneer hockey player.

No sure if he's still at DU student or if he has transferred...

Near as I can tell he is still enrolled at DU. I would guess that he is a victim of all the talented forward depth on the DU Roster.

Thanks for the info on Cunningham. Sad to hear that he may be done with college hockey at DU. He was really good to our boys at Coach G.'s Hockey Camp this summer.

Great to hear that your kids has a great experience at the DU Camp.

By his own admission Gwozdecky wasn't the greatest hockey player and he's carved out a tremendous legacy in the sport.

Cunningham is a character and a great guy. Your kids' experience with him confirms that.
