The Toronto Maple Leafs have called up former DU star center Tyler Bozak from the AHL Toronto Marlies before Tuesday night's game against Carolina.
Leafs coach Ron Wilson just dropped a major hint that Tyler Bozak will take over as sniper Phil Kessel's center.
The Marlies are in Texas at the moment so Bozak could not be here for practice. While Wilson didn't mention Bozak by name, it is pretty clear it was the 23-year-old to whom he was referring.
"More than likely," said the coach, when asked if Bozak was the most probable candidate for promotion. "Everybody else is hurt, to be honest with you. There's a lot of guys who are out."
Bozak, a free agent signing out of the University of Denver, looked very good at training camp but has managed just one game with the big club so far. He struggled through a knee injury and a bout of the swine flu that limited him to 32 games with the Marlies. He has four goals and 20 points in those games.
"It hasn't been an ideal year for him but hopefully he can take advantage whenever we call him up," said Wilson.
Kessel has been struggling with just one goal in the last 12 games.

The Toronto Star made it official at 6:10pm. Bozak called up.
Go TyBo!
I know that salary cap issues are why they sent Boz down in the first place and not his ability. To think where the Leafs might have been if he had started the season with them.
He's been hurt (knee) and had Swine Flu this year, so it 's great that he's getting a chance on the top line.
'Alum'???

Name another University of Denver student in the class of 2011 making $850,000 a year? :-)
To me that's an alum. He went to DU, got a job offer that kicks ass and now is gainfully employed.
Tyler has an assist through 2 periods and is +1. Leafs and Canes are tied at 2 at the end of 2.
Carolina wins 4-2. Lets hope Bozak stays with the Maple Leafs.
Two NHL games, and he has two points. He keeps that up for the rest of his NHL life, he'll have a long NHL career.
Bozak was the best Leaf on the ice when he played against the Avs. They need his energy and skill.
