Heisenberg's Recruiting Website is reporting that Daniel Doremus (6'1 180 lbs) from Steamboat Springs and Aspen, will attend the University of Denver in either 2011 or 2012. He is currently playing for the Colorado Thunderbirds where he has 23 goals and 20 assists in 39 games, while attending high school in Denver.
Before playing for the Thunderbirds, he played youth hockey for the Aspen Leafs. His older brother Tyler is a Sophomore hockey player at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY and is having a nice season with 10 goals & 4 assists in 25 games.
Next season Doremus has several opportunities to play in various junior leagues around North America. The NAHL Wenatchee Wild have "tendered" or offered him contract, announcing his intentions to play for them. Once a player signs a tender with a team, his NAHL playing rights belong to that team.
He is also expected to be drafted in the USHL Draft on May 19, 2010 and reportedly there are teams in the BCHL and AJHL up in Canada that are hot on his heels as well.
Gwozdecky and Miller mined gold in the Rockies in recent years with J.P. Testwuide and Ryan Dingle, so DU's unlikely but very successful recruiting pipeline in the heart of Colorado ski country remains open.
Doremus' coaches on the Thunderbirds this season are a couple former Pioneer players, Shawn Kurulak and Angelo Ricci.
Mike Chambers of the Denver Post has additional news on the Doremus signing as well as several hot prospects that might be future Pioneers in 2012-14.

I interviewed this kid at the Hyde interviews a couple of weeks ago. He has been attending Arapaho HS this year and living with a host family. He told me that he has spent quite a bit of time with Coach Miller.
Very committed to hockey. I believe he said both of his parents went to DU.
Wonder if the parents went to DU's law school like all these other recent recruits' parents. :-)
Funny how DU keeps signing players like Salazar, Testwuide, Dingle, Ryder & Nutini, while Lucia is running around Minnesota signing Blue Chippers with NHL pedigrees who can't score a goal to save their lives.
What does Lucia's recruits have to do with the original post? Nothing.
Speaking of "Nothing," how many goals did the Gophers score on Saturday night against Duluth? Fifth time this season Minnesota has been shut out.
Minnesota should spend less effort recruiting overglorified figure skates from fancy Minneapolis Prep Schools and go after some of these rugged kids from the Rockies. Kids who grew up chopping wood, wrestling grizzly bears and hunting for their food like Daniel Boone used to do.
I appreciate your humor DG, but I doubt a kid who lived in Aspen hunts, chopped wood or did anything rugged, but who cares, as long as he can play!
DG, I wouldn't dis the Minnesota products. Lee and Gifford are both from the rugged part of MN and contribute for this team.
Let's not forget about Berkhoel, either...
And just take a look at the Olympics. Langenbrunner is from Cloquet, plus Zach Parise, David Backes (you can't tell me he's not rugged) Erik Johnson, etc.
The issue isn't that the Gophers players can't skate. It's that the majority of their top guys bailed way early to the NHL. DU has been lucky recently to not have guys leave nearly as early. Read that as they're lucky that Rakhshani, Ruegsegger, Colborne, and Wiercioch didn't bail during last summer.
Attention..... The editor of this blog is a 40-something, has no life, trust-fund baby, Mamma's boy. Furthemore, he has no clue about the game of hockey.
Boone-town to NO-town......flameout, as usual.
Wow, what's a hungover, North Dakota Loser doing up at 9:07 in the morning? Oohhhh, I get it - - you were trying to figure out who SWEPT the Sue..... gotcha. How's that whole Fighting Indian thing working out for you?
Obviously, our Sioux friend didn't take his medication this morning.
Also, you might want to consider shock therapy.
dg,
Come on now. If DU was in the same position in COLORADO as the U of M surely Gwoz would do the exact same thing. Pleas don't kid yourself into believing otherwise.
Trust-fund baby........ that's a good one.
shock therapy should be mandatory care for little rug-rats from dakota
So after all this.....come to find out, Fourth Dakota's "Lamarouex" is just like his dog-ass ugly sister.... just can't perform, eh? Just can't get the big prize. Have fun working at Home Depot you scum. but hey - you got any open positions for one of the CC boys?
hey, r-words, DG is mixing in a little bit of humor and sarcasm with fact. Get it?
9:07 - if DG is such a loser, what does that make you for reading his blog and commenting on it? Somebody needs to get a life and it ain't DG.
I know DG, and I can assure you that he has quite an active life as a successful business executive, a great supporter of charitable causes and a builder of pride in his alma mater. He has more friends than anyone I know.
Trust me, he has a life most of you can only dream about.
Rumor here is that Lincoln Stars forward Jarrod Mermis has committed to DU.
