University of Denver Alum Kevin Ulanski, who scored more points than any other player in the Central Hockey League this season, was named the league's most valuable player Monday. He scored 34 goals and assisted on 75 others to finish the season with 109 points.
University of Denver recruit Dan Olszewski is the leading scorer for the NAHL St. Louis Bandits. The Bandits franchise is owned and coached by several former and current NHL players.
Last week the WCHA revealed it’s new post-season tournament format beginning in 2010-11, unveiled a new Broadmoor Trophy to go to the league’s annual playoff champion and welcomed new Association-members Bemidji State University and the University of Nebraska Omaha into the conference family. The new bronze cast trophy, created by Blue Ribbon Trophies & Awards of Colorado Springs, Colo., is a recreation of the famous Broadmoor Hotel.

Is the CHL decent hockey? Or just a glorified beer league?
the CHL is pro hockey. Nuff said.....
great video on youtube of Jarrod Mermis fighting in the USHL. He only has 3 goals this year in the USHL, but has over 90 penalty minutes, and stands at around 5'7". Do we have our Sean Avery, Jarkko Ruuttu, or Theo Fleury?
pessimistic, in going with former college players, I'd go with John Pittis of Michigan Tech. I remember he once bowled over Jesse Cook who was probably a foot taller than he was. Also, could the WCHA be the only conference in DI with two pairs of matched mascots UMD-SCSU and UNO-MSUM?
You mean MTU and SCSU.
Yes. Two sets of matched mascots. Huskies and Mavericks.
If we could convince Sacred Heart to jump the WCHA, we could have another school called the Pioneers.
Swami,
Thanks for correcting me. Or we could just get UND to switch sides and become the Pios too (not likely of course) but they will likely have to change the name, I wonder what Englestad's people will say when that happens
