2010-11 DU Hockey Schedule (Tentative)

The 2010-11 University of Denver hockey schedule below has been cobbled together from several sources and is not official by any means. In other words, don't book any plane tickets, but we have verified almost every date from at least two sources and the WCHA games all match up with opponents schedules we've seen posted elsewhere.

In recent years DU has released the official schedule in May or early June.

Dude; are the Lakers FINALLY coming here for the WFDC? I've been waiting a long time for this! And don't send the USNDT here; bring RIT!

With the new look WCHA we get 4 games with 2 league opponents (one of whom is always CC) and then we play everyone else in the league twice?

And the Denver Cup is now over Thanksgiving break?

A few thoughts about the schedule.

Denver Cup moved to Thanksgiving.

Obviously a brutal start to the season against Vermont, BC, Sconnie, UND & CC. A couple of years ago we saw a young Wisconsin team plummet out of Pairwise contention with an 0-5-1 against a similar bunch.

First year of the 12-team WCHA and DU has made out like a bandit. DU has two series against "rival" CC and then has UAA & MSU-M twice. Certainly an easier schedule than most of the WCHA elites.

Vermont, Northern Michigan & BC all made the NCAA Tourney this year.

Moving the Denver Cup make sense because DU is always going to have players at the World Juniors. It may also be easier to bring in opponents at Thanksgiving.

Supposedly DU is going to host a Hoops Tourney over Xmas to raise the profile of the basketball program.

I think the UAA December series is an away series. You have UAA listed as two home series for DU.

Thanks. You are correct.

Finally we get CC when all the students are here or at least lets hope so since this is still unofficial. And BC on my birthday weekend! :)

No Canadian team for the exhibition game?

I think it will be more fun for DU fans to see two of our recruits play against us for the USNDT. Forward Zac Larazza & Defenseman Matt Van Voorhis should be on the Under-18 team next season.

Having both CC series while school is in session should be a huge boost in excitement.

I definitely prefer playing the Development Team as opposed to some hackish Canadian college.

Hopefully this isn't an April Fools joke. I've been waiting for BC to come back for a while.

Well, DU did play BC at home in the Denver Cup championship just a few months ago....

...and it was a pretty exciting game!

No April Fools joke on the schedule.

I was mulling an article about RIT getting busted for an NCAA violation for having a Canadian player that wasn't eligible. DU would play UNH this weekend in Manchester with the winner heading to Detroit. Joe Colborne would not have been eligible because he signed a pro contract.

Also no April Fool's joke:

Don't know where to put this but Zucker has been named to the USA U-18 tournament team heading to Minsk. He was already considered a lock but just a heads up.

I really like that they're bringing in the development team it just feels weird since I'm used to the Canada teams for our exhibition game.

no gophers or sioux at home this year -- always looked forward to those games, guess Bemedji it is this year

Denver post headlines, Oct.30, 2010...."DU's Murray starts off season 0-8."

No games in Madison, WI??

That is a real shame! We have consistently brought a good group of DU faithful to Madison, especially this past season. Right DG??

Guess the Chicago Alumni Chapter will have to check other sport calendars for visits to Chicago.

The new WCHA scheduling format with 12 teams in the league will mean that DU will usually only visit opposing teams once every two years.

The exception will be in years where they are clustered with two additional teams. In 2010-11 DU will be clustered with Mankato & Anchorage.

The new schedule means that DU will usually have less games against marquee opponents Minnesota, Wisconsin & North Dakota. Hopefully it will translate to more wins and a fresher team in the playoffs.
