Florida Panthers May Make Room For Chevy

(above) The NHL Florida Panthers may be willing to trade their starting goaltender to make room for Marc Cheverie in the AHL

Tomas Vokoun, one of the best goaltenders in the NHL, has one year remaining on his contract in Florida. With that in mind, the Miami Herald reports the Panthers may make the goalie expendable after the season.

Florida likes their organizational depth in net, and may be willing to part with Vokoun and his $5.7 million salary.

Aside from Scott Clemmensen, the Panthers have two solid goalies at their Rochester AHL affiliate in Rochester in Tyler Plante and Alexander Salak.

The team is also negotiating with University of Denver goalie Marc Cheverie and could have him signed soon.

Jacob Markstrom, the 31st overall pick in the 2008 NHL Draft, has spent the past three seasons playing in Sweden; he is expected to be signed this summer and be at training camp when it opens in September.

The selfish side of me is saying, "C'mon dude; get your own toys - leave mine alone!" The proud, season ticket-holding and more realistic side of me says, "you damn straight ~ MC in yo' face, Beotch! I for goddamn sure hope that contract includes an unlimited supply of Bannana Boad 50 spf Sunscreen..... because Chevy won't be in the American league for long. He's a Nova Scotia boy, by birth; but a Florida retiree in training! All he needs is some plaid shorts, knee-high black socks and sandals to wear in August in Fort Lauderdale!

Facebook statuses indicate Chevy has signed a contract.

It's not Chevy's status, it's the congratulations he is getting and who they are from.
