Doremus Selected In 1st Round Of USHL Draft

2012 University of Denver recruit Dan Doremus (6'1 178 lbs) was selected 11th overall in the 1st Round of the USHL Draft by Sioux Falls. DU hasn't had too many recruits taken in the 1st round of the USHL Draft in the past, so its a testament to this guy's ability.

“I was surprised that Doremus was still available as I thought he would be one of the first three picks in the draft,” said Sioux Falls Director of Scouting and Player Development John Rosso.

Doremus is from Colorado and plays for the Thunderbirds, has also been pursued by the NAHL, BCHL and AJHL. He played his youth hockey in Steamboat and Aspen.

revandHey, where's Jarrod Mermis in all this 2010 recruiting class talk. I don't see his name mentioned anywhere. Did something happen with him?

I added the 2010 class to the list.

Like Dan Olszewski, Jarrod Merris is a "recruited walk-on." That means they don't sign Letters of Intent and DU can't talk about them until they show up on campus.

A couple of recruited walk-ons have ended up playing a big role for DU in the past, including J.P. Testwuide and Matt Laatsch to name just a few.

Aren't Nutini and Dusty Jackson recruited walk-ons/

Jackson is. Nutini is just wanker.

Nutini is solid and works very hard. Get your head out of your ass.

Hey I have a special message from Marc Cheverie down in Miami Beach - CC Sucks! And so does Fourth Dakota!

Its pretty obvious that du was not very high on cheverie, colbourne, or weircoch's priority list. Who can blame them when the coach was out shopping around as well? Nice program.

Anonymous said...

Not a nice program,but a great program.Thanks for playing.

Playing professionally was their priority and if DU served as a conduit for that goal,so be it.

There are solid players lined up to take their places as well, now that's what a "nice" program is about.

I think CC has a nice program - it just sucks

I see no reason to group Cheverie in the same boat as Colbourne and Weircoch. Chevy actually earned enough credits to graduate, and made the smart decision to leave on a good year rather than sticking it out another year and potentially having a poor season resulting in his stock going down. He accomplished all you can at DU (degree, conference trophies, gold pan, etc), minus the National Championship, and considering he earned his degree, there's no real point in him returning for another year.

I saw Chevy on the light rail about a week ago. He was lookin' pretty chill, but he was hanging out with a couple of skanks who got busted for not having a light rail ticket. I'm glad that I was able to "scoop" the major news networks on this newsworthy item. Stay tuned for more exciting updates.

So let me ask this. There's 14 names on this list = who do you think is going to be the standout? Who's going to be the rockstar from this list? I'm thinking Zman. Any thoughts ??

I read a posting on Hockey's Future last night from a retired NHL scout. He said that Bennett is going to be a stud. Called him a "natural goal scorer."

Question is; Will DU he able to find complimentary players who can get him the puck in position to score?

I'm glad to see Chevy was on the light rail. DU Students get free transit, so the "skanks" probably were not DU students. Light Rail is a god-send for those who want to drink downtown without having to drive.
